Police: Man arrested after domestic fight leads to kidnapping

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of kidnapping his wife and dragging her into the woods in North Charleston.

Authorities charged Cornelius Jesse James, Jr. with kidnapping and first-degree criminal domestic violence.

The North Charleston Police Department says they responded to a home on Old Hertz Road regarding an altercation that took place between a husband and wife Tuesday afternoon.

According to witnesses, the couple was involved in an argument when James dragged the woman out of the house and into the wood line.

Officers set up a perimeter and a short time later the woman came out of the woods.  After no response from James, a K-9 entered the woods and the suspect was caught.

James is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
