Cops: Man stole moped from teen at gunpoint

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Police are looking for a man they say stole a moped from a Chuck E. Cheese's employee on his way to work Monday morning.

Charleston Police Department officers responded to Campion Hall Road, a street just off Sam Rittenberg Boulevard near the North Bridge, around 7:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, the 19-year-old victim told officers that as he was driving over the North Bridge, he noticed several motorists were honking their horns at him, so he pulled over to Campion Hall Road to check and make sure his lights were functioning.

The teen said as he was checking his light, a white Chevrolet S-10 drove up and a man hopped out and approached him, saying "give me your moped." The victim said he initially refused before seeing that the man was armed.

The teen said the man took his moped and headed back towards the North Bridge. The victim said the S-10 was headed in the same direction.

The robber was described as a black male appearing to be in his early twenties standing 6' and weighing about 190 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a black hoodie, gray pants, and black shoes.

The stolen moped is valued at $1000.
