CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a police officer and two people were injured after the officer crashed his car in downtown Charleston Tuesday evening.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the Charleston City police car was at a stop sign on Congress Street at the corner of King Street around 5:41 p.m. when the accident occurred. Investigators say the officer pulled out, failed to yield the right of way and collided with a Nissan and a telephone pole.
The driver of the Nissan, his passenger and the police officer were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The highway patrol reports that the police officer contributed to the collision and the case is under investigation.
