Coroner: Mt. Pleasant man found dead at USC was accident

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - We now know what killed a 20-year-old Mount Pleasant man who was found dead on the campus of USC last month.

The coroner says Daniel Osterkamp died of mixed drugs including Morphine and Amphetamine among others. Alcohol was not involved and the death was ruled an accident. Osterkamp was found unresponsive in a friend's dorm room on Sept. 3.

Osterkamp was the second Mount Pleasant student found dead at a South Carolina college in September.

Emergency personnel pronounced Randall Heffron dead after they say he choked on a piece of pizza in a Wofford College residence hall on Sept. 10.
