MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A Mt. Pleasant police officer suffered minor injuries early Wednesday morning after crashing his patrol car into a small bridge.
The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday on National Drive, which is within the Charleston National Subdivision.
According to Mt. Pleasant police, the officer was maneuvering his police cruiser in an attempt to make a traffic stop on a suspect who was operating in a reckless and dangerous manner in the area. The officer lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wooden bridge.
The cruiser had heavy damage on the front end and passenger side.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating the collision.
