ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - State police are investigating the wounding of a gunman by two officers in Anderson County.
Sheriff John Skipper says the man was shot Thursday night after he pulled a gun on a deputy and a Highway Patrol trooper on U.S. 76 in the LaFrance community.
The man was taken to AnMed Health Medical Center. There was no word on his condition.
Skipper says the man in a pickup truck had hit a guard rail near Tri-County Technical College and an off-duty deputy followed him and alerted the Highway Patrol.
The sheriff says the man stopped at a convenience store and pulled a gun.
Skipper says 1 of his deputies and a trooper arrived and ordered the man to drop the gun.
Skipper says both officers fired.
Neither officer was hurt.
