Man accidentally released day after attempted murder conviction

MIAMI (CNN) - A dangerous criminal is back behind bars in South Florida after he was accidentally released from jail.

Dexter Davis was convicted Monday of stabbing his ex-girlfriend.

On Tuesday, he was set free from the Miami-Dade County Jail.

A detective who investigated Davis saw him walking down the street and called the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office.

Officials then realized the mistake and launched a manhunt.

Investigators are looking into how he was released.
