NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Bond was set at $500,000 for a 28-year-old man who was arrested Tuesday afternoon following a standoff involving SWAT in a North Charleston neighborhood.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office charged 28-year-old Juan Carlos Grant with trafficking marijuana.
It all started around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday when deputies responded to a home on Catterton Drive for a residential alarm. When deputies arrived they found that the home was unsecured and located 24 pounds of marijuana in plain view in the home.
Deputies also located a gun that was found in the mailbox. Detectives then began surveillance of the home and identified Grant as the homeowner.
North Charleston Police officers located Grant's Monte Carlo parked at a home on Tedder Street around 12:25 p.m. Authorities say Grant refused to leave the home prompting the North Charleston SWAT team into action.
Around 3 p.m., Grant left the home and was taken into custody for trafficking marijuana.
Major Jim Brady with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office says the incident on Catterton Drive has not been determined to be connected to a shooting on Pierpont Avenue where a 5-year-old girl was shot in the head.
