Police arrested a 39-year-old man in Horry County suspected of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint in North Carolina.
The Horry County Police Department arrested Prentis Connie Reaves in connection to a kidnapping incident in Columbus County where investigators say Reaves took a woman at gunpoint from a home on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, authorities responded to an address on Castler Heights Road in the Longs section of Horry County in reference to a possible location of the kidnapping suspect and victim. Officers say they could hear movement inside the home, but several attempts to make contact went ignored.
SWAT and hostage negotiations team were then brought in. Negotiators made contact with the suspect via cell phone and began talking to the suspect. Police say after a brief conversation, the suspect surrendered to members of the SWAT team and was taken into custody.
According to investigators, the female victim was in the residence and has been recovered in good condition.
The suspect had an active warrant out of Horry County for criminal domestic violence and was locked up at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Authorities say other charges are possibly pending.
