A tow truck slammed into a paint store on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston early Tuesday morning, sending the driver to the hospital.
North Charleston Police and the North Charleston Fire Department both responded to the scene at Glidden Professional Paint Center around 2 a.m.
According to police, the driver of an 18-wheeler exiting the Interstate 526 ramp at Rivers Avenue crashed his truck in to the Glidden Paint building.
Emergency crews say they had to take the off the passenger side of the door to reach the driver.
The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The entire cab of the tow truck was inside the building. Building officials are on scene to access the structural damage.
The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed
at this time.
