CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks and Kate Moss. Their careers started on the runway and today they are household names. The same modeling agency representing those superstars has its eyes on a young Mount Pleasant teen, Kalli Dangerfield.
At five feet nine and a half inches, Dangerfield is taller than many of her eighth grade classmates at Cario Middle School.
It's something the 14 year old is using to her advantage to launch a successful modeling career.
"When I was little, I always watched America's Next Top Model and I always thought that was so cool, but it's harder than it looks," Kalli Dangerfield said.
As Kalli heads to New York she's accompanied by her aunt, Robin Goldston, and Suzanne Green of Millie Lewis, Kalli's home agent who first spotted the teen's star potential.
Next Model Management is ranked as one of the world's top three agencies. Inside, managers work at their computers booking models and fielding calls from around the world. Beautiful faces are their business.
Next models come from all over the world and their work sends them globetrotting.
The only traveling for Kalli right now is across town to the magazine headquarters of Teen vogue.
Trump Model Management is a boutique agency which accepts only a few select models. This agency also ranks among the top in the world and the agency wants Kalli.
Her appointments take her to Park Avenue South and everywhere in between.
For now there's middle school to think about. Agencies tell her to finish school and study hard. She could be managing millions in earnings.
There's no rush, she's too young. She has to be 16 to walk the runway in fashion week or model in Europe. But she's not too young to sign a contract.
It won't bring her much money now, but a top agency can develop her career. A career that could someday make her a household name.
