WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A four-car wreck on Interstate 526 has been cleared after it caused traffic delays heading toward West Ashley on Wednesday morning. The wreck involved four vehicles just before the Westmoreland Bridge.
According to Charleston police, the accident occurred around 8 a.m. and involved a car, SUV, pickup truck and an 18-wheeler.
The car traveling in front of the 18-wheeler stopped suddenly causing a chain reaction where several vehicles struck vehicles in front of them.
No one was transported to the hospital by EMS. The investigation is ongoing.
Two westbound lanes on I-526 were blocked, but have since been reopened. Traffic was backed up past Highway 61 as emergency crews worked the accident.
