CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Former NBA star Xavier McDaniel is returning to his home state to visit a school on the South Carolina coast.
McDaniel, a Columbia native who played for five NBA teams over 10 seasons, visits St. Johns High School on Wednesday.
He's speaking to an assembly at the school and then will remain for several hours to meet with students who are at risk of dropping out.
In 1985, McDaniel, who played at Wichita State, became the first college player to lead the nation in both scoring and rebounding in the same season.
