Charleston base holds military blood drive

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The Naval Operation Support Center is scheduled to host a blood drive on the joint Air Force-Navy base in Charleston to help military members and their families.

Air Force officials say Saturday's event is open to all Department of Defense identification card holders, including active duty and reservists, civilian DOD employees, retirees and their family members.

All donors were to get a free T-shirt for participating.

All blood donations are going to the Armed Services Blood Program, which provides blood products to military service members and their families during peacetime and in conflicts.

Officials said the event was taking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Joint Base Charleston directly behind the Army Reserve Center.
