CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The most recent downtown Charleston porch fire is now being investigated as suspicious. Firefighters snuffed out the fire early Monday morning.
The fire started just before 4 a.m. Monday on the porch of a home located at 50 Montagu St.
Officials say the fire was put out quickly. The residents were home when the fire ignited, but everyone got out safely.
Officials with the Charleston Fire Department say the fire is being investigated as suspicious, but they have not said whether this fire is related to previous cases where arson is suspected. A majority of the arsons happened on the other side of the Crosstown from where Monday's fire occurred.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
