Woman held up outside Church's on Meeting Street

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating an armed robbery which happened in the parking lot of Church's Chicken on Meeting Street early Friday morning.

Charleston Police Department officers responded to the restaurant in the 400 block of Meeting Street just before 1 a.m. Friday.  When they arrived, the store manager told them she was locking up and leaving the restaurant when a man in a ski mask walked up, pointed a silver handgun at her, and told her to drop her purse.

Police say the victim dropped the purse and ran away.   A man who was waiting in his car for the manager ran after the robber, who then jumped a fence behind the restaurant, the report states.

The robber was described as a black male standing between 5'2" and 5'5" tall with a thin build.  He was wearing camouflage and a black ski mask.
