NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Ashley Phosphate and the eastbound ramp to Interstate 26 have been reopened after a minor chemical spill shut down the area Thursday morning.
The North Charleston Fire and Police Departments neutralized a minor chemical spill that occurred around 9:30 a.m. The spill shut down the road for nearly two hours while crews cleaned up less than five gallons of mild acid in the road.
The Department of Health and Environmental control was notified of the incident, which was contained to the on-ramp. Fire officials say there was no danger to the surrounding areas.
