Charleston jazz musician passes away

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The jazz community is mourning the loss of Jack McCray. The downtown Charleston native passed away on Wednesday.

McCray was a local jazz musician, writer, historian and a driving force in the music scene in Charleston.

He directed the Charleston jazz orchestra and published a weekly jazz column about local clubs and musicians for the Post and Courier.

No information has been released on how he died. McCray was 64-years-old.
