NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Hundreds of veterans are gathering for the traditional Veterans Day celebration in North Charleston.
The annual observance is scheduled for Friday in the city's Park Circle, where there will be speeches and music. All veterans attending will receive a commemorative medal.
Prior to the ceremony, a story swap in being held at which veterans can share their memories and experiences in the service with the public.
This year's speaker is decorated retired Air Force Col. Frank Taylor.
North Charleston has been selected by the Department of Defense and the National Committee for Veterans Day as a regional site for Veterans Day. Last year, 500 veterans attended.
