NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Emergency crews have been searching for a missing boater in North Charleston since early Sunday morning.
North Charleston police officers responded to Rivers Edge Marina on Bridgeview Road around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in reference to a boat accident involving a man falling overboard.
Witnesses say that 26-year-old Preston Scott Guyse of Hayne Street fell off a boat and into the water. On scene, officers met with witnesses who said that the victim drove to the boat landing and put the boat in the water for a test run. A witness said that he was not far from the landing when they saw the boat tilt and the victim fall into the water.
One of the witnesses said that the boat kept going around in circles where the victim fell in and the boat may have hit him. A female witness ran to a nearby gas station and called the police.
Charleston County Rescue, EMS, the Charleston County Marine and Dive Team, Coast Guard, North Charleston Marine and Dive Team, DNR, and North Charleston Chaplin responded.
As of Monday morning, the victim had not been located.
