MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Mt. Pleasant police arrested a 30-year-old man in the parking lot of Bottles last Thursday after a concerned citizen reported seeing a baby left inside a car.
Patrolling officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the lot on Coleman Boulevard just before 3 p.m. and spoke with the tipster who said he'd seen the baby left unattended for 15 minutes. The report states officers then saw "a very young child" sitting in the car seat of a Kia Spectra.
Officers noted that the windows were up and the car was not running. Police said they had the manager page the father, Janssen Douglas Strong, who admitted that he left the child in the car so he could go buy a six-pack of beer inside.
Strong was arrested and charged with unlawful conduct towards a child. Officers called the baby's mother and told her to pick up the child at the police station.
Strong was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
