Dorchester District Two names new assistant superintendent

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester School District Two has named Linda Huffman as assistant superintendent of administration and personnel. With more than 26 years working in the district, Huffman brings to the position extensive experience in district administration having served as Director of Staff Development and Teacher Evaluation before assuming the position of Personnel Director in 1999.

The school district advertised for assistant superintendent positions several months ago and interviewed a number of candidates.  The school board approved the hiring of an Assistant Superintendent of Administration and Personnel following an executive session after the November 14th board meeting. Superintendent Joe Pye has not had an assistant superintendent since July of 2010.

Huffman's career in education has included teaching at the elementary, middle, and high school level, as well as school administrative experience. During her teaching career in the district, Huffman was honored as Dorchester District Two Teacher of the Year. In addition, she has served in leadership roles in local and state professional organizations.

Superintendent Joe Pye said, "Linda Huffman brings a wealth of experience to this position with her teaching and administrative background in elementary, middle, and high school education.  The district will benefit tremendously from her knowledge of this district and our community."

Huffman completed her undergraduate degree at West Virginia Wesleyan College University and her Master Degree in Elementary Education at West Virginia University.  She also received an M. Ed. in Secondary Administration from The Citadel.
