NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested a man on Wednesday night after they found a handgun in his car following a traffic stop.
Patrolling officers with the North Charleston Police Department pulled over a 1992 Acura sedan at 6:30 p.m. after they saw the driver make a right turn from Reynolds Avenue onto Rivers Avenue without using his turn signal.
Police said the driver, 34-year-old Larry Sherod Ward, was acting nervous when he was questioned. Police said he eventually told them he had a pistol wedged between the driver's seat and the center console.
Officers found an unloaded 9MM Luger in the car, and they also found a magazine containing seven live rounds sitting on top of the car radio.
Ward was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center. He is charged with unlawful carrying of a firearm.
