Recycling changes coming for Stono Ferry Plantation, Red Top residents

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County's Environmental Management Department is making a change to the recycling pickup day and alternating pickup week for residents currently receiving curbside dual-stream recycling service in the Stono Ferry Plantation and Red Top area.

"Due to recent growth on the existing route and surrounding areas, the Collections Department has reached capacity with regards to personnel and equipment on this particular route's service day," said Hal Crawford, Collections Manager for Charleston County Environmental Waste. "By making adjustments to this area's service day and pick up week, the Department will better utilize existing manpower and resources."

The new changes will impact residents' current service day and week of service.  Postcards notifying affected residents of the changes will be mailed Friday, November 25.

The new pickup day goes into effect Wednesday, December 14, and continues on a biweekly schedule. The last normal pickup day is the week prior on Tuesday, December 6th.
