Mount Pleasant police remind public to lock car doors

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Many of you are getting ready to shop for the best holiday deals and police want to remind you to lock your doors.

Mount Pleasant police are reminding everyone of their Lock it or Lose It campaign.

Officers say shoppers are often busy trying to get the best parking spot or distracted by what they're going to buy and they forget the simple things.

"It only takes a second and it will save you a lot of trouble down the road. Just take that extra second and lock it," said Don Calabrese with the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Calabrese says that 80 percent of car break-ins happen when people leave their doors unlocked.

It may also be a good idea to take all of your presents inside after you get home.
