Cops: Man cited for huffing air duster downtown

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say they cited a man on Thanksgiving Day after he was caught huffing a can of air duster on a downtown street corner.

According to the Charleston Police Department incident report, officers responded to the corner of Mary and Meeting streets just after 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in reference to "a passed out party".

The first officer on scene said that as soon as he arrived, he saw 27-year-old Adam Wayne Buchner pick up a can of air duster off the ground and put it in his mouth.  Police also said that Buchner had a bag containing 5 other cans of the duster.

Officers called EMS to evaluate Buchner. While under observation at MUSC, he was cited for unlawful use of aromatic hydrocarbons.

Police said they released Buchner and told him to go to a drug rehabilitation center.  He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
