CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have arrested two suspects in an early-November armed robbery and burglary at a Rutledge Avenue apartment.
Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis says officers arrested 24-year-old William Lee Smalls and 20-year-old Aldean Cordell Wright, both from North Charleston, on Monday.
Smalls is charged with armed robbery and burglary first degree and Wright is charged with armed robbery, burglary first degree, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a violent crime, and simple possession of marijuana.
Police say the November 10 incident began around 9:40 p.m. when one of the victim's began talking with Smalls and Wright outside of his apartment. Both victims then walked with the men to the front door of their apartment, according to officers.
Police say that just as the victims were inside the apartment with Smalls and Wright, four armed suspects entered the residents and forced everyone to the floor.
During the incident, investigators say Smalls and Wright got up from the floor and joined the other suspects in robbing the victims.
The investigation is ongoing.
