CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County School District board voted 4 to 2 in favor of giving full-time district employees $500 on their paychecks before Christmas.
The district calls the extra pay the"Achievement in Quality Awards."
Officials say those who have served less than a year will receive a portion of this extra pay.
Administrators who make $100,000 or more a year will donate their $500 to the district's Children in Crisis fund, a private fund the district uses to help families who are going through hardships such as losing their home to fire.
According to school officials, the "Achievement in Quality Awards" are to thank employees for sticking with the district over the past couple years and for the good rating received on the last report cards.
