CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - More than 36,000 people end up in the emergency room due to holiday decorating accidents.
The experts at Home Depot say there are some precautions to take as you start decorating the outside of your home.
Sales associate Ray Blackwelder says number one, don't work alone.
He says check the boxes to see the recommended number of strands that can be strung together and follow those guidelines.
And it's very important to get lights that are meant for outdoors only.
And experts say overloading an outlet can be a fire hazard, so keep that in mind when plugging in your outdoor lights.
