GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown County investigators are searching for a man who held up the B.B. Smith's Grocery and threatened to kill the store's employees Thursday night.
According to authorities, at 8 p.m. the suspect came into the store, located at 777 Saint Delights Road in the Sampit Community of Georgetown County, carrying a silver handgun. The victim of the store was locking the door for the night, when the suspect came in and told everyone to get on the floor.
The suspect then began waving around the handgun and ordered the victim to give to hand over the money.
According to an incident report, the suspect followed the victim to the register demanding the money and pointing the pistol to his head.
At one point, authorities say the suspect threatened to kill someone if the victim did not hurry up and give him the money. The suspect fled on foot to the left of the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, deputies say.
A bloodhound tracking team led deputies across the road from the store where it appeared a car had been, but then the trail was lost.
No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing baggy blue jeans, a gray hoody with a light colored wind breaker over the hoody. The suspect is between 5'8" and 5'11" and weighs 200 to 250 pounds.
