Woman arrested for pretending to be nurse in Walterboro

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - A woman was arrested Friday after authorities say she applied for a nursing job without a valid a license to practice nursing.

Walterboro police arrested 39-year-old Stacy Dawn Duncan and charged her with unlicensed practice as a registered nurse.

According to police, Duncan applied for a job at Heritage Healthcare and upon review of her application, officials discovered that Duncan used a nursing license that did not belong to her.
The name on the license was similar to Duncan's, but not the same.

Upon further review, officials were able to verify that Duncan did not have nor has she ever had a valid nursing license.

Officials found out that Duncan had been receiving compensation from other areas as a licensed nurse.

According to a State Law Enforcement Division background check, Duncan was convicted of exploitation of a vulnerable adult, financial identity fraud, forgery less than $5,000, breach of trust, $5,000 or more in July 2010. She was also convicted of failure to appear in court for a misdemeanor in August.
