WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Police say two women who robbed a gas station and tied up a clerk were arrested 15 minutes after the armed robbery happened in West Ashley.
The Charleston Police Department charged 25-year-old Tamika Judge, a former employee of the gas station, and 26-year-old Octavia Denise Bell with armed robbery, grand larceny and kidnapping.
According to investigators, the incident began around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday when the women, one of them armed with a taser, entered the gas station at 1301 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.
Investigators say the women used duct tape to secure one of the employees and force her inside of the store cooler.
After committing the armed robbery, they left the scene in another employee's vehicle, police say. The taser wasn't used during the armed robbery to harm the victims.
Charleston police say a description of the suspects and the vehicle they were driving was provided to the officers, who immediately began canvassing the area for the suspects.
Two women who matched the description of the suspects were seen in the Northbridge Shopping Center. The women were then detained and as result of the ongoing investigation, both were arrested and locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center.
