Man dies after driving into Bluffton lake

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - Beaufort County sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel received the report that a red car drove off the road and into a lake at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday in the Sandy Point community off of Buckwalter Parkway.

After the vehicle was located, members of the sheriff's office dive team responded to help with the search. Divers located a red Toyota Solara and the car was then pulled from the lake. Le Roy Garner, 82, of Bluffton, was discovered in the car.

There are no indications of foul play, according to the sheriff's office. Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, Beaufort County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are still investigating the cause of the accident along with the cause and manner of death.

A forensic autopsy including toxicological studies has been scheduled to be performed Wednesday at the Medical University of South Carolina.
