Crews battle fire in downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Fire Department was called out to a fire on King Street Saturday.

Fire officials say it happened in the 1100 block of King Street around 4 p.m. Crews were able to see smoke coming from the second floor as they arrived on the scene.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames quickly. Authorities say it started in the attic of the building. The building has two vacant businesses on the first floor and residents live on the second floor of this building.

Authorities say no one was hurt in the blaze and that this fire is not suspicious.

The North Charleston and St. Andrews Fire Department also assisted in putting out this fire.
