Earl Brown's 1st attempt to win his 700th game came up short as Burke fell at home to rivals North Charleston 44-42 on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs held a 9 point lead going into the 4th quarter, but the Cougars came all the way back. They cut the lead down to 1 with 15 seconds to go when Anthony Williams hit a bucket down low and was fouled to put North Charleston up by 2. Burke had a couple of shots to tie things up but neither went down.
For the Cougars, not allowing Brown to reach the milestone was a big deal. "It was good to not let Coach Brown get that win tonight" said North Charleston Head Coach Blake Hall "he'll get it soon enough."
Brown's next chance to reach 700 will come Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Lincoln.
