Women caught on tape stealing needy kids' Christmas gifts

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - Lexington Police are looking for two women they believe stole Christmas gifts from the lobby of a hotel that were meant for children in need.

Police say early on December 11, the two suspects entered the Value Place Inn at 4920 Augusta Road in Lexington and stole coloring books, crayons and at least 20 pairs of gloves.

The items were in a charity box that Lexington Interfaith Community Services placed in the hotel lobby so that guests could donate, said LTV. Matt Davis.

It's surprising news to Kevin Stagger with Lexington Interfaith Community Service.

"We really didn't think someone would do that," said Stagger. "Literally they are the Rich that stole Christmas."

Surveillance cameras caught images of the women inside the building around 8 a.m. The women are believed to be 5' to 5'3 in height and between the ages of 25 to 35.

Anyone with information about who the suspects are or about the crime itself, is urged to contact LTV. Matt Davis of the Lexington Police Department at 803-359-6260 or Crime stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (1-888-274-6372).
