Driver denies blame for killing Mt. Pleasant woman at festival

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - The driver who struck a tent full of sleeping women and killed 20-year-old Nicole Miller, of Mt. Pleasant, at the All Good Music Festival denies responsibility for the accident.

In a response to the victims' lawsuits, Clay Lewin of Cape Charles, Va., admits he lost control of his pickup as he tried to leave Marvin's Mountaintop near Masontown in July.

Lewin says parking and security agents told him to park near tents on a steep, grassy slope when he arrived, but no one was there to guide him out when he tried to leave.

Lewin says he was trying to avoid tents and vehicles on the hillside when he lost control.

More than a dozen claims and counterclaims have been filed in U.S. District Court in Clarksburg since Miller died.
