Judge sentences N. Charleston man to 12 years on drug, gun charges

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 33-year-old North Charleston man was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison Friday on drug and gun charges.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Ephesian Brown was sentenced in federal court for possession of a weapon and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. A judge sentenced Brown to 151 months in prison.

Brown was arrested in March 2010 after investigators say he fled from the front porch of a home as North Charleston police officers arrived to execute a search warrant. After a brief foot pursuit, Brown was detained.

Officers found Brown in possession of a loaded magazine and over three grams of crack. The handgun for the magazine was found nearby in Brown's path.

The case was investigated by agents of the North Charleston Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
