BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Berkeley County man stabbed his wife to death and then stabbed himself Friday afternoon in an apparent murder-suicide at a home in the Francis Marion National Forest near Highway 41.
The Berkeley County Coroner's Office identified the husband Saturday as 32-year-old Devon Williams and his wife as 31-year-old Lesha Williams.
Deputies are still trying to determine what led to the stabbing, which occurred at 258 Berk Road just before noon Friday. Deputies say the couple did not live at the home. Relatives of the couple live at the home where the stabbings took place.
Berkeley County Sheriffs Office spokesman Dan Moon says the 9-1-1 call came into dispatch just before noon. Moon says someone came out to Highway 41 and Berk Road and flagged someone down a car to call 9-1-1.
"When they arrived they found one person deceased, a female," Moon said. "They found another person alive, but injured. That person was transported to the hospital."
The husband died at the hospital. Sheriff's deputies also found small children inside the home, but they were unharmed and have been moved to a safe location.
No other information has been released at this time.
