Man shot 'execution style' on train tracks identified

LINCOLNVILLE, SC (WCSC) - A man was found dead on the railroad tracks after being shot in the head Tuesday morning in Lincolnville. Charleston County sheriff's deputies investigating the scene say 25-year-old Marquis Richardson was shot execution style.

Deputy chief John Clark says the shooting looks like it happened where the body was found near the tracks.

"It does not look like he was shot some place else and brought here," Clark said.

Neighbors say they heard a gunshot around 8:30 p.m. Monday, went to investigate, but didn't find a body until 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Terry Parker, who lives nearby, says the Lincolnville is "more or less a quiet area" but this is the second time a body has been found near of the railroad tracks.

In Jan. 2010, a woman's body was found in the woods close to the train tracks, less than a mile from Tuesday's incident.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office says Richardson was killed by a gunshot wound and the case is being investigated as a homicide.
