ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) -

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department have made two arrests after finding more than 150 cats in an abandoned home over the weekend.

Amy June Thomas, 36, and 43-year-old Richard William Thomas will have a bond hearing on Tuesday. Both are being charged with one count of animal cruelty.

Officials say that the cats where found Saturday in a home at a mobile park on Joree Drive after they received a call from the owner of the property.

An incident report says that the cats were left without food and water, and were "forced to feed on each other for survival." Multiple cats were found dead at the scene.

An investigation into the abandonment showed that the couple "knowingly and intentionally" left the cats in the former home after they moved, according to officials.

All of the cats were taken to Orangeburg County Animal Control to be evaluated.
