Georgetown man charged for dealing heroin

GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - A 32-year-old man has been charged in federal court for dealing heroin in Georgetown.

Tywaun D. Thomas has been charged in a two-count indictment with possession with intent to distribute heroin and distribution of heroin.

The maximum penalty Thomas could receive is a fine of $2,000,000 and/or imprisonment for thirty years.  Thomas has been ordered to be held without bond.

United States Attorney William N. Nettles stated that the case was investigated by agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Georgetown Police Department, and the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit, and that he has assigned the case to Assistant United States Attorney Nick Bianchi of the Charleston office for prosecution.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this Indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
