Third suspect charged for grocery store armed robbery

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have charged a third suspect in connection to a downtown armed robbery at the Hanover Corner Grocery Store.

Charleston police charged 21-year-old Marion Thompson III with armed robbery. Thompson, who is on parole for possession of cocaine, was being held in the Charleston County
Detention Center.

The armed robbery happened on Nov. 28 around 9 p.m. when a man armed with a handgun entered the business, went behind the counter, pushed the clerk out of his way, grabbed money and ran out of the store.

Police arrested 23-year-old Johnell Lamar Watson on Dec. 9 and charged him with armed robbery. Watson, who is on probation for possession of cocaine, is accused of being involved in the armed robbery.

Authorities also arrested 20-year-old Byron Aaron Minter Jr. and charged him with armed
robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
