Cops: Attempted murder suspect attacks deputy, damages patrol car

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies say a 29-year-old Summerville man suspected of cutting a man's face and neck, attacked a deputy and damaged a patrol car.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office charged Charles Christopher Hill with attempted murder, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and damaging county property.

Deputies responded Tuesday evening to a reported stabbing in front of 106 Ashwood Court where they found a man with what appeared to be severe lacerations to his face and neck area.

Investigators say the suspect had fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later a few blocks away.

An incident report states that while being taken into custody, Hill resisted arrest, became extremely combative, assaulted a deputy and damaged a patrol vehicle.

Hill was locked up at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing.
