R.J. Swindle, who spent his college days pitching for Charleston Southern, signed a minor league deal with the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday according to MLB Trade Rumors.
The Vancouver native has pitched in 9 major league games in his career with the Phillies and Brewers in 2008 and 2009 respectively. He has an ERA of 12.71 with 12 strikeouts in that time.
Swindle spent 2011 in the Tampa Bay Rays organization pitching 39 innings in Triple-A. He was a 2004 draft pick of the Boston Red Sox. He's also spent time with the Yankees and Indians organizations.
The lefty spent 3 seasons pitching for Charleston Southern going 21-13 with a 3.13 ERA. He was 10-4 with a 1.96 ERA in 2003.
