Woman donates diamond ring in Salvation Army kettle

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - With Christmas less than two days away, Debi's Kids and the Salvation Army Angel Tree received an early gift Friday.

An anonymous woman donated a diamond solitaire engagement ring valued at $3,000 to$4,000. The woman dropped the ring into one of the red Salvation Army kettles.

The woman instructed the Salvation Army to use the money assist those in need within the community.

"Without those in our community who support us such as this generous lady – we could not have done what we have," said Capt. Thomas Richmond with the Salvation Army. "Our promise to the community is "Doing the Most Good" and we plan on doing that with this ring."

Debi's Kids and the Salvation Army Angel Tree was able to assist over 8,000 people this year, 4,800 of which were children.
