Tips for sticking with weight loss resolution goals

Charleston, SC (WCSC) - Many people are trying to get a head start on their weight loss goals, but sticking with a work out plan can prove difficult for some.

Nathan Brantley, a trainer at East Shore Athletic Club, says he sees a rise in membership every January, but he'd like to see just as many people stay the course.

"That first workout is the hardest," says Brantley. "I can tell you get in there, get with someone that knows what they are doing so we can set you on the right track."

Brantley also says a lot of resolution makers find themselves lost on how to work the machines, but that should not deter people from giving it a try. But exercising is only half the battle. Committing yourself to a healthy diet is equally important.

"We can show you around the gym and tell you things to eat so you do see that progress and you don't fall off," says Brantley.

Jennifer Loveday-Donovan now comes to the gym everyday in order to maintain her 30 pound weight loss. She believes a strong support group is also important when attempting to lose that extra holiday weight.

"People should eat properly and have a healthy relationship with family and friends," she says.
