Deputies arrest man wanted in fatal Christmas Day shooting

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Bluffton man wanted in connection with the Christmas Day shooting death of 25-year old Adrian Allen Hilliard has been arrested.

Andrew Thomas Bogart, 31, was arrested just after 7 a.m. Tuesday during a meeting arranged with sheriff's office investigators. He will be charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter,

Bogart, Hilliard and two other individuals, all allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol, were hanging out at Hilliard's Jade Stone Ct residence on Christmas Day, passing around a firearm belonging to Bogart.

According to investigators, the weapon was being handled by Bogart when a round was discharged, striking Hilliard in the head. Hilliard died at short time later after being flown to Savannah for treatment.

Authorities are continuing the investigation.
