2.6-magnitude earthquake reported near Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The fifth earthquake in less than three months was reported near Summerville on Wednesday morning.

A 2.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded by the U.S. Geological Survey just 3 miles south of Summerville at 2:56 a.m.  On New Year's Day, a 1.4-magnitude earthquake was reported 5 miles south of Flowertown.

A 2.6-magnitude earthquake was also reported on December 21, and a 2.2-magnitude earthquake was reported 14 days earlier.  A 2.5-magnitude earthquake was also reported on October 15.
