Man wanted for Dollar General armed robbery surrenders

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Police say a man wanted for one of three armed robberies at the Dollar General on Johns Island turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday.

Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis said 46-year-old Troy David Williams, of Johns Island, surrendered at 10:30 a.m. Police say Williams is responsible for the November 24 armed robbery of store on River Road.

He is charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Williams, who police say is on parole for shoplifting 3rd offense, is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.

The Dollar General on River Road has been held up 3 times in the last three months.

The investigation is ongoing.
